Aotearoa is currently in a cost of living crisis which includes the ongoing and increasing costs of power.  In collaboration with Ngā Iwi o Taranaki, Pou Tahua of the Iwi Chairs Forum, and Ara Ake we are pleased to announce the following:

🔥He Ahi Kā, He Ao Hou - The Home fires power the New World🔥

This is the precursor event to the National Māori Energy Summit 14th and 15th of October in Ngāmotu. Nau mai haere mai!

Energy decisions start at home and innovations that serve the Hau kāinga has the ability to power the nation.

If you are a trustee or representative from hapū, marae, papakāinga, and whenua-based developments, join us at this gathering to explore hapori-led energy opportunities and solutions, with insights and whakaaro from industry experts as well as an open invitation to join Hihiko a collective to share knowledge between whānau, marae and small land trusts to stand up micro energy projects.

Michael Rewi (Trustee | Iwi and Community Engagement of Rewiring Aotearoa) to talk about their electrifying marae kaupapa

Zack Makoare (Trustee of the Mahue-Pera Ahu Whenua Papakāinga) to share his reflections on powering up Papakāinga and supporting marae

Tuhi Ao Bailey (Chair of the Parihaka Papakāinga Trust) to discuss Parihaka Pā and their solar energy project

⚡Milan Ruka (Founder of Mana Wairua Energy) to talk about his work looking to harness power from the tides

Tama Toki (Founder of Aotea Energy) and Manutahi Barrett (Founder and Director of Solar Sense) to share examples of harnessing the power of the sun and what they are doing to power up marae and communities

We will also host round table discussions and reflection sessions so whānau can walk away with ideas to implement when they return home.
